"Do Watts Wise©" is a new component to the safety training OEC provides to area school children. The interactive program incorporates magic tricks and illusion to teach children the importance of electrical safety.

Tracy Mowdy, who has worked at OEC as a part-time dispatcher for nine years, customized a program that engages the students with fascinating tricks. He says it captures their attention and is an effective way to insure the message sinks in.

"The kids have fun and learn at the same time, so hopefully it will help them remember to be safe when around electricity," he says.

Tracy has conducted six "Do Watts Wise©" presentations during the past month and has gotten good reviews.

Kristyn Boensch, a preschool teacher at Pumpkin Shell School in Norman, said she overheard her students talking about the electric lines and poles at recess.

"I definitely recommend this program and we look forward to having him again next year," she said.

OEC's marketing director Jack Ferrell is also impressed. "Tracy has really done his homework and does an amazing job of grabbing—and more importantly holding—the kids' attention."
